this short film, directed by film maker josé muniain, was filmed over the
course of three days. it documents the entire process of creating a painting.
the piece was produced on heavy gauge clear vinyl and stretched over
conventional stretcher bars. the footage was condensed into eight minutes
and shown as an installation in conjunction with the painting. The title,
"navarro," was the result of a happy coincidence - it is lotenero's youngest
son's name and the region in spain where muniain is from. navarro was a
finalist in the d.c. independent film festival and has been shown at pittsburgh filmmakers, the mattress factory, the urban institute of contemporary art
(michigan) and the austin museum of digital art.
